Stranger Than Fan Fiction Review: 

Hello everypony. Sorry it has been a while since I've last posted. 

The Hiatus is finally over for this season. There are many promises that Hasbro and Discovery Kids are making for this season, and I for one look forward to it. 

With that said, lets get on to my review of "Stranger than Fan Fiction": 

SPOILERS AHEAD: 

This episode starts off with Daring Do looking for the amulet to unlock an ancient treasure (typical). It turns out, this was just a short reading from Twilight reading to Rainbow getting ready for the Daring Do convention in Manehatten. Turns out, only Rainbow Dash is able to go as Princess Celestia needs Twilight for the Friendship Summit in Griffonstone. 

Getting to the convention scene rather quickly, Rainbow Dash is more then just "excited" as Daring Do (aka AK Yearling herself) will be there. 
While walking around the convention, Rainbow meets a new character "Quibble Pants" who appears to be a fan of Daring Do; only later to find that he only came there to complain to AK Yearling about the "stupidity" of her adventures in the new series. 

The story unfolds by having the two ponies going through an ACTUAL "Daring Do 'adventu-cation;" (so to speak). 

As Quibble is first skeptical that he is in actual danger, it becomes apparent that he really is being held captive by Dr. Cabiliaran and his henceponies. 

In the end, Quibble gives the new series a different opinion on the "impossibility" of Daring's new adventures. 

My Thoughts

Well, the beginning was smooth, as it explained why we haven't seen Twilight in the convention scene at the preview of the episode. 

But the way the story opens up with Daring finding the Amulet has me scratching my head. If Daring only recently found the Amulet, how is it already in the book Twilight was reading to Rainbow? 

The preview of the episode itself also had me scratching my head as the synopsis of the episode states that Quibble "hates Daring do as much as Rainbow loves her"; the reality is that Quibble didn't hate Daring, just doesn't like her new trilogy. I was relieved to see that Quibble doesn't actually hate Daring, (I like her).

I like Quibble, he is smart and very mindful of what is "logical". Quibble is an excellent example of an avid reader who loves fiction and writing (I can see myself relating this character in that way). However, as we learned in "Feeling Pinkie Keen" that are things beyond explanation, but that doesn't mean they are impossible; as much as it may seem that way. It is hard to justify what is impossible and impossible and even in this world, there are many debates on the subject. 

I love the ending,....

it shows that everyone has their own thoughts and opinions about something, whatever they have seen it with their own eyes or not. It is a rather basic lesson, but there are some older people outside the demographic that needs to learn this lesson and sometimes be reminded of that lesson. 

It is ok to have different opinions, and to give constructive criticism. As long as your being SUBJECTIVE and not OBJECTIVE. 

I see myself in Quibble is a small way, but do believe what might seem "impossible" to some, it just might be possible. 

Here's to a great rest of Season 6 and I hope that the writers at Hasbro will continue to surpass our expectations and continue to surprise us with new and overwhelming entertainment in Season 6!

The Crystalling

Sorry it has been a while everypony. A lot of things have been happening, along with the new Season 6 premiering, there is a lot to say about the season opener, and the few episodes following it, so lets get started.

The Crystalling: 

I'll be honest, I actually did watch the Season 6 teaser trailer, and I immediately fell in love with the new Royal baby. I'm not one to poke fingers (or hooves) on whatever the baby is an alicorn or not, I'm actually pretty open to the idea. However, when it was shown that the baby is compatible with such enormous power, it took me by surprise (kudos Hasbro). But looking back, it all makes sense, let me explain:

Baby Overlord: 

I absolutely love Princess Flurry Heart, not just because she is adorable. As I look at this baby, I can see a great deal of a radiance of love; maybe because she's the daughter to the Princess of  Love, but that's besides the point. When it was found that Princess Flurry Heart has enormous power, I honestly was very shocked. I was SPEECHLESS! I looked at my stuffed Candance from Build-a-Bear, and asked her,...."How does the 'Princess of Love' give birth to,.....THAT?!" However, the more I thought about it, the more sense it made. 

Alicorns embody the powers of Pegasi and Unicorns alike, and are able to do enormous things. As explained in the "Journal of the Two Sisters" Alicorns are able to do enormous magical things that a regular unicorn couldn't do alone; as such is rise and lower the Sun and Moon. So it would make sense for this new Alicorn Princess to be able to do massive things beyond our expectations. 

Second:

As stated in "Baby Cakes" Rarity explains that "Baby unicorns get magical surges that come and go"; moreover, Rainbow Dash also explains that baby pegasi will start flying all over the place. As we have seen from both Pound and Pumpkin Cake. So I do expect that a baby Alicorn would be able to weld such power. 

HOWEVER:

I still call this baby an "Adorable Baby Overlord", which seems fitting considering everything. 

Even so, I look forward to what this season has to bring, and here's to looking for more surprises from Season 6 and Princess Flurry Heart.

My Little Pony: Slice of Life Review

Welcome everypony! I am sure that everyone of you were just as excited as I was to hear about the 100th episode special of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
This is a wedding special; Uniting Cranky Doodle Donkey and Matilda in one very special episode starring our dearly beloved background ponies!
The episode starts with a mismatched date on the wedding invitation which everypony in town has received. Now, in a panic state, Matilda tries to get the wedding going ASAP.

Ponyville Drama Queens!

As an apology to Matilda for labeling the wrong date for the wedding, Derpy is tasked with the flower arrangements. However, at the local flower shop, we meet 3 ponies who work there that panic at the surprise demand for the arrangements which hasn’t shipped yet. Also, we meet Ponyville’s own Drama Queens!

 

Dr. Hooves:

Fans have been yarning about a pony by the name     Dr. Hooves or Dr. Whooves from Dr. Who. I can agree that the pony refers to the doctor from Dr. Who. However, I cannot agree that the pony in Ponyville is referring to him completely. The Time Turner in Dr. Who is about going back and forth into Time; whereas the Dr. Hooves supposes time coming to you (which sounds completely ridicules in my opinion.) Nevertheless, I was surprised that the writers come up with a great explanation for the doctor.

Ships: Vinyl and Octivia:

One of my favorite ships is Vinyl and Octivia; congratulations fan-fic writers, your stories are now canon!

Ships: Bon Bon and Lyra Heartstrings:
My second favorite ship is Lyra Heartstrings and Bon Bon. However, it appears that Bon Bon isn’t the pony we sought her to be. Turns out, she was a secret agent undercover in Ponyville assuming the name “Bon Bon”. This can either make or break fans perspective on how they see her as a character; and how they see the ship of the couple. So all I have to say to the fan-fic writers who ship these two:

Thoughts and Notes:

There are many things to take away from this episode. I will elaborate on that in a moment. I’m gonna quote one of the most famous reviewers in the Brony fandom
“This episode was a love letter to the Brony community” –Dr. Wolf.
I will agree that this is the biggest thing to take away from this episode. This episode goes to show how much that the MLP writers and animators and also everyone in between really appreciate how we have shaped the Brony community and how we have changed the show for the better; and also the definition of “manhood” or “manliness”.
I would like to personally give a shout out to all the writers (and MA Larson) for their hard work on this episode and I look forward to more episodes focused on what it means to love each other.

Appleloosa’s Most Wanted Review

 

Greetings everypony! I am excited to say that this is not only my first episode review, but the first blog entry I have ever done on the “Windows Live Writer” client application.

Now, about the episode “Appleloosa’s Most Wanted”; it was a good episode, but definitely not one of my TOP 3 in the season,…maybe TOP 5.

The story was great. It is a big “cliché” to many stories I have read and movies I have seen in the past. MLP is a story with pop culture references after all. Aside from the point, this story is ultimately a case of one’s own mistaken identity.

Appleloosa feels the presents of a horse (a horse, not a pony) that seems to have his mind set on shutting down the rodeo at Appleloosa. The reality is that Trouble Shoes is just a character who seems clumsy.

He mistakes the meaning of his cutie mark to be bad luck. Not much else to say about it because it does at first seem like bad luck. Until the CMC reveals that he is just a clumsy horse and his cutie mark is just meant for entertainment at the rodeo.

Turns out, Trouble Shoes has been wanting to compete in the rodeo since he was just a colt. He loves the rodeo as anypony would. He was meant to make ponies laugh! And I personally love his style of entertainment. However, Trouble Shoes will still have to face charges for vandalism, even if they were stupid mistakes; and the CMC along with him for disobeying AppleJack’s orders to stay put.

My Comments:

Let me make this clear, I am from St. Louis, MO; home to the famous Budweiser Beer and the Clydesdales. When I first saw Trouble Shoes I said, “That’s Budweiser horse!” They do look fairly similar (See pictures)

 

 

 

 

 

 

I was surprised to see that the writers decided to give a horse a cutie mark. Just in my opinion, Trouble Shoes is just too big to cross as a pony. I do love Trouble Shoe’s clumsiness. His famous quote “Just my Luck”, although sounds to be cliché it is a good quote, something I find funny every time I hear him say it.

In the end, I really enjoyed this episode, it is a big step up from the original debut of Appleloosa in “Over a Barrel”.

Plus, I really love how the comedy tortures Braeburn. The poor guy broke a leg, cut him some slack,..LOL.

The Moral:

Well, the moral can be a matter of perspective: I see several morals in this episode:

1. 1. Life’s what you make it

2. Sometimes, you need somepony to believe in

3. Believe in yourself.

4. Listen to AppleJack, or you’ll end up being maids!

“Just my Luck” –Trouble Shoes

My Little Pony: Equestria Girls- Rainbow Rocks

My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Rainbow Rocks; and rock it out she did! 

I have to admit, I am usually impressed with the way the Hasbro presents the MLP franchise. 

When I first heard of the Ponies becoming humanized, I thought "Stick to ponies Hasbro". However, upon seeing their debut in the first Equestria Girls movie, I loved them, and the sequel makes me love them even more (but not anymore then their pony counterparts). 

First is the intro: The 3 Sirens state their condition (or conviction in this case) of being stuck in a human world; upon this, they seem to be feeding off the negative energy of the little arguments people make of the everyday. 

After a few minutes, they see the "magic lasers" that defeated the evil Sunset Simmer. Upon seeing this, the leader, Adagio becomes aware that Equestrian magic has entered the human world and all three suddenly grows greedy lust for its power (as any villain would). 

Then comes the Intro song "Rainbow Rocks" I have never witness, with my own eyes and ears, and never thought that the company that brought me "Talking Bowling Pins" as a kid would come up with such an up-beat Rock and Roll song that I found myself listening to almost every day and every commute to school. 

So, to save the space of this post,.....

Twilight finds a way back into the human would with bad news on the Sirens and their intentions. And together with the help of Sunset Shimmer, they defeat the 3 Sirens with the power of Friendship and ROCK AND ROLL!!!!! 

I was pretty surprised that the Sirens turned out to be 3 innocent little girls who were possessed with dark powers for years and managed to keep their young human appearance(s). 

So while I love this movie, there are some questions that come to mind: 

- If the 3 Sirens were innocent little girls possessed by dark powers, why are they still alive after so much time? The history that Twilight provides in the beginning suggests that it has been over thousands of years (hence, Star Swirl the Bearded banished them). Unless one of the episodes in Season 5 or the upcoming Season and/or the upcoming MLP movie set to debut in 2017 reveals that Star Swirl didn't pass thousands of years ago, this would suggest that the Sirens been possessing the girls for a long time.  

- Now that Sunset Shimmer is converted to good and just getting used to this "Friendship thing" what is her output like? That is up to the writers and fanfic creators to decide! 

There are many more questions to ask,... 

most of which will only be answered by the fate of the writers, and some that cannot be answered entirely.

I look forward to reviewing Season 5 of MLP and hope that it continues to be a good season with outstanding moments (and Easter eggs!).

Salutations everyone! 

My name is Edward. I created this blog for my reviews for MLP episodes and merch. 

Mostly I will be reviewing episodes and movies. 

What inspired me to create this blog is a few things: 

  -I love to write.

  -After seeing every episode out there, every movie, and (hopefully) every fanmade video of MLP, a lot of thinking goes around in my brain. I wanted to share my thoughts, but to do it in a way that was most comfortable; after all "Everypony is unique and indivisual" -Twilight Sparkle ("Testing, Testing, 1,2,3").

 - I also have a habit of creating videos. But not before I write my reviews. Please find me on YouTube.
